Your transmission is one of the most complex — and most expensive — systems in your vehicle, and the best way to protect it is regular service before problems start. Fresh fluid and a clean filter keep it shifting smoothly and can add years to its life.
At Rick’s Automotive, we focus on keeping your transmission healthy with regular service and maintenance, including:
A good rule of thumb is to have your transmission serviced around the 100,000 km mark — it’s cheap insurance against a very expensive repair.
We don’t do internal transmission repairs or rebuilds — but for the service that keeps your transmission running longer, plus honest advice on where things stand, we’ve got you covered. If your vehicle ever does need an internal rebuild, we’ll tell you straight and point you toward the right specialist.
On a manual vehicle, we handle clutch replacement and the related parts — the clutch itself, the release bearing, and the hydraulics that operate it. A clutch that’s slipping, grabbing, or getting harder to engage rarely improves on its own, and leaving it long enough can take the flywheel with it.
That’s separate work from an internal rebuild: the clutch sits between the engine and the transmission, so it’s a job we do here.
On front-wheel-drive vehicles, the CV joints are what actually deliver power to the wheels while the suspension moves and the wheels steer. They wear, and the boots that protect them split — once grit gets in, the joint is on borrowed time.
The classic symptom is a rhythmic clicking on tight turns, particularly at low speed in a parking lot. If you hear that, get it looked at before the joint fails outright.
We replace CV axles and joints, and we’ll check the boots as part of a general look-over so you can catch a torn one while it’s still just a boot.
